Consortium Distilling Project

Pellet Stove Heat Exchanger

Dynamic Designs is building a prototype of a Pellet Stove Heat Exchanger for Consortium Distilling Project. Our goal is to heat water for mash (alcohol) production. Consortium Distilling Project is unique in having no waste from production. The grain used in mash production is made into burnable pellets, which will later be burnt in the pellet stove to heat future mash cycles. Our project scope is to attach an air-to-water heat exchanger onto the pellet stove, design a mechanical system to transfer the water from storage through the heat exchanger, and to mash production. We are also designing an electrical system to control the operation.

Houssam Ishaque

Houssam Ishaque

Houssam has a great interest in mechanical engineering since high school, where he attended the automotive class at Milton District High School in Milton, ON. Currently a 2nd Year Mechanical Engineering student at Camosun College, Houssam learned new concepts and developed a hands-on approach that can be applied to the real world. The capstone project allowed him to gain experience in a team environment and to be able to design, build and test a newly developed project. He is excited to join the UVic Bridge Program starting in January 2021.

I have a background in trades and project management, particularly in the marine industry. My focus on this project will be to keep us on track and to make sure that we have a smooth build phase. I would like to expand on the new knowledge learned here at camosun and tie it in to my work experience. My interests, in general, are in design and prototyping.

Kelly Kearney

Kelly Kearney

2nd year Mechanical Engineering Technologist student, Kelly Kearney has wanted to become a Mechanical Engineer since taking a robotics class at her highschool, Edward Milne Community School in Sooke, BC. Maintaining an A average, this project has given her a chance to learn the hands-on components of Engineering. Camosun has been a wonderful learning experience for her as she looks forward to joining the Bridge program to UVic next January.

My background is a journeyman Heavy duty mechanic, I have a strong sense of design implementation that will help guide our group into producing a product that will be both maintenance free and easy to install. I enjoy the designing and prototyping aspect in the engineering world and look forward to furthering my studies after capstone.
