retail-oriented projects involves creating a complete point-of-sale
(POS) system using the latest programming technology. Part of
that system will be the focus of this Capstone project. |

Great West Trading is an up-and-coming business that is
built on the concept of handling imports, exports and distribution
of retail and specialty products. One of their retail-oriented
projects involves creating a complete point-of-sale (POS)
system using the latest programming technology. Part of
that system will be the focus of this
Capstone project.
Streamlined functions to be addressed by this POS System include point-of-sale
functionality along with local and remote business management. Depending
on their access level, the user will be able to
§ Handle retail transactions
§ Manage inventory
§ Generate purchase orders
§ View reports locally or securely over the web
§ Maintain customer and supplier information
The front and back ends of the system will be built on
the Linux platform using the latest JAVA and PostgreSQL
technology.
