Gustavo is a Peruvian motorsport enthusiast who dreams of designing, building and driving high-end racecars. He worked half a year at a humble mechanic shop in Peru, changing oil, replacing brake kits, and overhauling engines. There he had his first contact with the automotive industry, finding peace and fulfilment by working in a place relative to his aspirations. As the CAD Lead of the team, Gustavo ensures that all designs and drawings are correctly checked in/out and saved, as well as giving and receiving feedback regarding the designs. Gustavo values a very reciprocative style of teamwork, where, depending on what situation or how many people are needed, all team members can be available to give some advice or hands-on help. Outside of college or work, Gustavo likes to play videogames, watch movies, watch European football matches and Motorsport events.

Max is an up-and-coming mechanical monster, whose diverse skill set bridges the gap between digital design and execution. On the technical side, SolidWorks is his tool of choice to create robust models and assemblies, partnered by Excel to calculate the critical data behind them. As the accounting lead, Max combines the technical and practical, streamlining component sourcing and building reliable vendor relationships to take projects from concept to reality.

Juan is a Colombian student currently completing his Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology at Camosun College, where he has developed a strong foundation in mechanical design, manufacturing, and energy efficiency. He also brings strong problem-solving, organizational, and teamwork skills. He is very interested in everything related to CAD, design, and manufacturing. Hence, as the Manufacturing Lead, he is responsible for guiding the manufacturing process for the aesthetic reverse osmosis system by incorporating stainless steel components and developing efficient methods to manufacture and assemble the system's parts. He applies his problem-solving and organizational skills to ensure the manufacturing process is effective and well coordinated.

Uma has always been interested in math, physics, and technology, and has participated in many STEM-related competitions, winning bronze medals in both the Mathematics and Informatics Olympiads of her home country, Mexico. This experience has helped her develop the problem-solving skills and creativity needed to tackle the many design challenges involved in her team’s Capstone project. As documentation lead, she also brings excellent communication skills and professionalism to the team. As a way of using her previous programming experience, she would like to specialize in automation and robotics in the future.

Roark is a problem solver from Victoria BC, whose initiative has cultivated the adaptability needed to overcome challenges and achieve ambitious goals. After graduating from Reynolds Secondary in 2021, he picked up many different jobs, such as carpenter, laborer, landscaper, and salesman. Roark is a jack of all trades who’s currently assuming the role of project lead of a five-person team in this capstone project. As project lead, Roark's early pivot from in-house fabrication to modifying a proven platform cut cost and risk, while preserving the client's custom requirements, keeping the team on track for the project demonstration this August. When taking on a task or project, Roark brings a smile and a calm, get-it-done attitude. Outside of work, Roark strolls in mossy forests, cooks soup, and writes creative non-fiction essays.
