The Right Track
Introduction
The Right Track is a self-sponsored group of Interactive Media Development students consisting of Nate Hopkins, Kirsten Collins, and Casey Mares. Together, this enthusiastic team is creating a visually stunning, realistic racing game with arcade elements. They hope to appeal to a large audience of players as they try to ride the line between arcade and realistic racing.
Acknowledgements
The Right Track would like to thank their game development teacher Ben for all of his support throughout the project and further extend their thanks to all the staff in the computer science department, who helped them develop the skills needed to succeed in this project. The Right Track looks forward to seeing what they can complete for this project and what they can achieve in their future careers.
Team Members
Nate Hopkins
Nate is a disciplined student of the Interactive Media Development program. Some of the strongest skills Nate has leveraged during his Capstone project are in 3D modeling, design, and Unreal Engine. At Camosun, he furthered his teamwork and problem-solving skills, which he intends to use as he learns more about Unreal Engine and its many intricate systems. Outside of the tech world, Nate has a passion for lifting weights, and he hopes to use his skills in tech to innovate other industries he is passionate about, such as the automotive world.
Kirsten Colins
Kirsten is a student of the Interactive Media Development program with a passion for game design. She gravitates towards creative positions and loves working with a team to create, whether it's within educational or work settings. During her educational journey, she developed an interest in 3D modelling, animation, and environmental design, and she has applied those interests in the project. In her personal time, Kirsten enjoys being outdoors, whether that's snowboarding in the winter or camping and swimming in the summer.
Casey Mares
Casey is a well-rounded and skilled student of the Interactive Media Development program. In the program, he discovered which skills he was truly passionate about and enjoyed creating freely on project-based work. Casey particularly enjoyed 3D design and modeling, along with programming for games and web. During the capstone project, Casey was able to leverage his skills in programming and 3D design to program and model a real car for our game. Outside of school, Casey is creative and adventurous and can be found to be playing or creating music, crocheting, or camping on the various hidden roads of Vancouver Island.
