Project DescriptionThe autonomous aquarium submarine is a fish-like device that independently explores and navigates an aquarium, behaving much like a fish. This project takes advantage the small form factors and energy saving capabilities currently incorporated into modern electronics. The autonomous aquarium submarine is powered using inductive coupling and stores energy using an ultra capacitor. The submarine avoids the sides of the aquarium by means of echo sounding and an ultra efficient PIC microcontroller. The working prototype of our submarine was completed on a budget of $250.
Team Background
Xiaoting Chu is currently taking Computer Engineering at Camosun College.
He has fifteen years of experience in electronics and has contributed to well-known
corporations such as PHILIPs, QAULCOMM, Sierra Wireless, and ZTE.
Jeremiah Wilbur is currently taking Computer Engineering at Camosun College.
He has nine months of electronics experience as a co-op student with CFB Esquimalt.
Nathan Hardy is currently taking Electrical Engineering at Camosun College.
He has one year electronics experience as a co-op student with the Canadian Coast Guard and CFB Esquimalt.
