Vemras
Vemras is an easy-to-retrofit automotive speedometer for car enthusiasts and anyone who wants a more accurate speed reading than their stock speedometer can give them. With Vemras, we want to create a reliable alternative to GPS speedometers. Our project consists of two units. We have a Speed Recorder unit that sits under the user’s vehicle and measures their speed relative to the road. This Speed Recorder uses a continuous-wave radar Doppler transceiver and a microcontroller to read the vehicle’s speed. It then sends this speed up to the second unit: The Display. Using alphanumeric and analog displays above buttons, we can show the user their speed and allow them to change things like display units. We have used a novel technology to address some of the issues with the currently available speedometers.
